Whales are few and far between around Stellwagen but there have been some recent sightings east of the bank and some east of Cape Cod. Whales that have been seen include: Liner, Nile, Scylla and calf, Glostick (Scylla's 1997 calf), Division (Orbit's 1991 calf), Putter (Mars's 1993 calf), Brine (Salt's 1987 calf), and Apostrophe (Nurse's 1985 calf). Red tide is still an issue here as well.

Well the whale watching season has officially kicked off- Salt was seen today!!!

I just received word of some more humpback whale sightings. Ivory was spotted with her ninth known calf. Congratulations are in order to Salt, who is a grandmother again - Thalassa, her 1985 calf, was seen with her fourth calf. And, Half Moon was sighted as well! A good weekend for whales.

July 20, 2005
Both Salt and Coral were sighted in the waters just east of Cape Cod on Sunday (July 17). They were also spotted again by Sue Rocca on the Captain John Boats on Tuesday (July 19).

Just heard that Liner and Salt were among the whales hanging out in the shipping channel yesterday, north of Cape Cod. They seem fine, just playing in boat traffic.
